Hi there!

I’m hopping on board, and merging onto the list post highway. I’m shedding my distaste for the list post and have decided I’m going to not only write them, but write them with the awesome that has been sorely missing from all too many a list post.

Here’s my first SeanMPlatt.com list post. Tell me what you think:

I’m a writer, so here are the Next 5 List Posts I Plan on Writing

1) Collective Inkwell – 10 Ways to Increase Your Creativity. The Internet is so gassy with tips on creativity, it’s about to lay a fart you’re going be able to smell from Brisbane to Bakersfield. I’m going to write ten tips on creativity, minus the methane.

2) Ghostwriter Dad – 5 Reasons Why You Should Hire a Ghostwriter. Too many people try to do it all themselves. This is a mistake. By hiring a ghostwriter, the wise professional can concentrate on their projects and authority, while hiring someone who knows what they’re doing to string it all together. In this exciting list post, I plan to rove my point.

3) Write Dad – 10 Ways to be a Great Dad. Unfortunately, too many fathers suck. I don’t plan to change the world with this post, but I do plan to lay out two shy of a dozen reasons how any dad can pass go and collect $200. Or something like that.

4) Potty Training Power – 10 Terrific Tips to Toilet Train Your Toddler Today! This list post covers nearly identical ground as pretty much everything else I’ve written on the site, but ties it together in a super enthusiastic alliterative bow.

5) SeanMPlatt.com – Top 5 Mistakes I’ve Made Since Going Online. I could easily make this the top 50, but this is the one site where I let brevity wash me like a cool breeze.

Until tomorrow…

This is part II of day one in the 31 Days to a Better Blog series. Yes, it is a bit long winded, but hey what do you expect? We’re all here for link building, right?

Day 1 is writing a short elevator pitch for your blog. I’ve done Sean Platt.com already. Today it’s Potty Training Power and the Collective Inkwell.

Potty Training Power

Potty Training Power is a site dedicated to helping parents through the often difficult period of potty training. Fresh advice is published one to two times per week, with rich archives filled with toilet training tips and techniques. Potty Training Power’s flagship product is the “Start Early, Finish Strong!” Toilet training system; a product unlike anything else on the market. It comes complete with an easy and fun to read book for grown-ups, a storybook for your child, audio versions of both, three custom designed potty training charts from cartoonist David Wright to help manage your progress, and an emergency help slip, just in case you need to call on the authors for help.

The Collective Inkwell

Building a blog affords an author constant opportunity to cultivate their creativity. The creative mind expresses itself in a million different ways. Whether considering the layout of your page or the quality of your copy, blogging can be an exercise to strengthen your creativity. At Collective Inkwell, we help you find your muse and then lead her to the stage. We also offer a full range of services from web design to copy that will help make your online business blossom.

Until tomorrow…

I’m not the biggest fan of the meme, but I am a fan of freelance writer, Marc (Welshscribe). Since he tagged me last week, I elected to play along. You can check out my answers to his meme over at Writer Dad today. I answer such earth shattering questions as “Who is the hottest movie star?” and “What super hero would you be?”

George Clooney, Monica Bellucci, and Batman (although Spiderman would have been an excellent answer on second thought).

Cindy dropped her second post today, first one that wasn’t a variation of the about page. It was on planning a proper summer for your children. It was also excellent.

At Ghostwriter Dad, I dropped a post about how Cyrano de Bergerac was the original ghostwriter. Really it was just an assembly of quotes, but I rather liked it. The idea was given to me by Bamboo Forest, although probably not on purpose.

Continuing to offer potty training help over at Potty Training Power, we received the first ever question for Ask Dr. Potty which was awesome, and we published part III in our series about Infant Potty Training.

Plans are crystalizing nicely on the Children Write the Future project. I can’t wait to see how this particular puppy barks. It may not be the MOST exciting project on the plate, but it definitely has to be in the top three.

To the 18 of you who have already uncovered this odd little nugget, another has joined us. Feedburner reports 19 as of this morning. A giant welcome to whoever you are.

Much like Ghostwriter Dad, Potty Training Power was started as a niche site. No matter how many niche sites I build during my online career, Potty Training Power will always be the first.

It was born from an original rhyme I wrote about a year ago called, “Number One and Two it!” After I met Blogger Dad, the two of us turned the tiny little tail into a wee-book. It sold so few copies, I think we actually owed e-junkie one. After we let it sit dormant for a couple of months, Cindy and I decided to revisit the copy and perhaps turn it into something special.

We realized that many parents share the fear of potty training and that perhaps we had something we could contribute. We wrote the book and Dave used his considerable blog design talents to build us a beautiful site.

Potty Training Power has since gone on to publish a new post ever week about, you guess it – the trials and tribulations of toilet training. Once a week parents can get potty training advice and toilet training tips either by going online direct to the website, or by subscribing to the (free) feed by RSS or email.

Potty Training Power is midway through its second version at which point we’ll launch a series of guest posts and a Twitter campaign. By the end of the year it should have page one ranking for a few of the major keyword searches. As I like to say at the end of each post around those parts…

Potty Training Power, AWAY!
