It’s hard to believe we’re already on chapter 11 of Available Darkness, the collaborative fiction Dave and I have going on over at the Inkwell.
Let’s see if I can give a synopsis so far.
A man wakes up in a coffin, fights his way to the surface, and flees through the forest in search of sanctuary. He finds a house where a man is beating on a woman. He intercedes in their conflict and ends up killing them both by the force of some supernatural power inside him that he cannot control or understand. Upstairs in the house he finds a young girl who has been held as their prisoner. He flees with her into the unknown. They find an old motel about twenty miles outside of the crime scene and check into the hotel together. The man finds out his name is John when the girl, Abigail delivers a deeply buried memory directly into his conscious. The flick on the news and see that the world at large is looking for both he and Abigail. They realize they need to switch locations. Abigail goes to move the car to a safe spot, but gets pulled over by a police officer. Sitting there on the side of the road, a van pulls alongside she and the officer and murders the policeman in cold blood. Abigail is drugged and thrown into the back of the van while John remains in the motel room, helpless.
